The Historic Kitchen

Unlike the modern kitchen, which is serviced by a stove, oven, and refrigerator, the historic kitchen was serviced by a fireplace and a round brick oven. Around our historic kitchen are sample artifacts found on the property or Fort Drum, such as a wooden water pipe, soda-lime glass, and salt-glazed pottery. Because the formal dining room is located upstairs, food was ferried from the kitchen using a man-powered dumbwaiter, which opened up at the top of the stairs.
